In Loving Memory of Yvonne To
July 24, 1955 – November 17, 2025
With profound love and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. On November 17, she went peacefully to be with the Lord, at home and surrounded by her family, after bravely facing Stage IV kidney cancer with remarkable strength, courage, and optimism.
Born on July 24, 1955, in Hong Kong, she was the beloved daughter of Oi Chee Chan and Chai Him Cheng and had six brothers and five sisters. In 1974, she came to the United States to care for her nieces and nephew. She later enrolled in courses at Ohio University, where she met the man who would become her husband of 45 years, Harold To. After Harold graduated and received a job offer in 1980, the couple moved to Florida to begin the next chapter of their lives together.
Their family grew with the births of their son, Raymund, in 1985, and daughter, Angela, in 1988. In 1991, the family moved to Louisville, Colorado, where she lovingly raised her children. She worked part-time as a medical interpreter while raising her children, and in 2008 she joined the bursar’s office at the University of Colorado Denver and the Anschutz campuses, retiring in 2016.
One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a grandmother. She adored her three grandchildren – Ethan (4), Corielle (3), and Madison (2), – and cherished every moment she spent with them. She delighted in watching them grow, laugh, and learn.
She traveled widely with her husband after retiring, visiting Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. Even during her final year, she continued to live fully, traveling with her family to Cancun, Greece, Turkey, and Salida, Colorado. She celebrated her 70th birthday this past July with lifelong friends who traveled to be with her.
When her cancer spread to her brain in August, she faced this final chapter with the same steady faith and courage that had defined her life. She entered hospice care on November 5 and spent her final days in peace, comfort, and prayer, held by the love of her family and the promises of her Savior.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 2:00 PM at her church, Boulder Chinese Evangelical Free Church (BCEFC) at 988 Delta Dr, Lafayette CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation, an organization that supports individuals and families facing cancer( https://rayofhopecolorado.org/donateinhonorof) or the UC Health Cancer Center Research Fund Cancer center (https://www.givecampus.com/campaigns/52515/donations/new?a=8692350), to support research at the cancer center of Yvonne's hospital.
