Wayne Lloyd Dicksteen died on Sunday, January 4th, following a brain-stem stroke on January 1st at his home in North Boulder.
While he was born and raised in Flushing, Queens, Boulder was his heart’s home. He discovered it on a cross-country road trip after high school and vowed to come back to live. He accomplished this by going to CU Boulder for college and then working in the area for several years.
Various events brought him back to NYC for a long time, during which he married Lisa Napell Dicksteen and had his son, Jordan Dicksteen.
But he always wanted to return to Boulder.
In 2007, during the summer between his son’s sophomore and junior years of high school, he did. The family moved to North Boulder and, while he and Lisa divorced in 2020, he remained in the area until the end.
He loved his family, his friends, and his precious dog, Bear, with whom he has surely been reunited.
He is survived by his son, Jordan Dicksteen of Thornton, Colorado.
The family is not sitting shivah but will hold a goodbye event at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 11th at the Boulder County Center for Judaism. (2810 Jay Road (corner of 36), Boulder) The venue is strictly kosher so please do not bring food.
For those who wish to do so, he would have appreciated donations to the Boulder Humane Society, which is where his family found Bear.
