Travis Kempf

November 16, 1979 — July 28, 2022

Northglenn, CO

Travis Christopher Kempf, 42, of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away July 28, 2022.

Travis was born November 16, 1979, to Geraldine (Gerri) and Jerome (Jerry) Kempf in Denver, CO. He grew up in Denver with his older sister, Jennifer, and stepbrothers Matt and Ben Jaeger, along with stepmother Kim Kempf and stepfather Bob Jaeger. Travis graduated from Arapahoe High School. He met Melissa Bodkin in Denver in 2014, and they married September 3, 2017.

Travis worked a variety of jobs, and the one he loved the most was working for American Furniture Warehouse. He was proud of his career as a trucker, which spanned over 12 years of safety, both long- and short-haul trucking. Music was a passion of his, and he had incredible drumming skills. The highlight of his wedding was the set he played with his friends, delighting everyone who loved him. He loved cars, especially the classics. He spent many happy hours on his motorcycle, traveling on two wheels with his dad, his sister, and his wife, all over Colorado. Travis also especially loved trains, and enjoyed riding them anywhere he was, including a cross-country rail journey in Canada with his family. He loved traveling in all forms, and he and Melissa honeymooned in Alaska and enjoyed many wonderful trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, and across the United States. He loved the Rockies, Broncos, and Nuggets.

Family and friends were the most important thing to Travis. If you were lucky enough to be in his circle, he was a friend to you for life, and he would give anyone the shirt off his back. He had a giant heart and cared fiercely for those he loved. He had the biggest smile and gave the best hugs, and his laugh was infectious and easy. He never met a stranger he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) talk to. He also loved his dogs, Gryphon, Teddy, and Mochie.  Travis lived larger than life, and the world was a better place because he was in it.

Travis was preceded in death by his mother, Gerri Jaeger. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Bodkin, father Jerry (Kim) Kempf, stepfather Bob Jaeger, parents-in-law Tom (Edie) Bodkin, Tim (Becky) Russell, sisters Jennifer (Justin) Kirkland,  Mary Salinas, Kelly Russell, Holly Russell, brothers Matt (Rebecca Blatt) Jaeger, Ben (Heather) Jaeger, nieces Jay Kirkland, Adria Holst, Josie Jaeger, Piper Jaeger, Willow Blatt-Jaeger, nephews Forest Blatt-Jaeger and Isaac Russell, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, and countless friends who were like family to him.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 1:30 PM at the Inn at Hudson Gardens, 6115 S. Santa Fe Dr, Littleton, CO. Travis wished to be cremated, and his ashes will be placed in a resting place at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
