Thomas Michael Mitchell Sr. Died peacefully in his home on May 10, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by his wife, eight adult children, and several of his grandchildren. He passed only 13 days after his diagnosis of Advanced Pancreatic Cancer.
Thom was born in Staunton, Illinois on February 20, 1956. He was the 12th of 15 children born of Dorothy and Harvey Allen Mitchell. He joined the Marines in 1975 and served his country proudly for 6 years before being honorably discharged. He was a nomad, so he moved frequently from California, to Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New York, etc. but Colorado has always been the place that he called home.
He married the love of his life, Linda Sue Larsen (Mitchell) in December of 1974. The two proceeded to welcome their 7 children into the world together. Eight years after Thom and Linda were married, they found out that Thom had another beautiful daughter, Kathy Jo, from an earlier relationship in his life. Thom and Linda were married for 50 years this last December and in that time moved 75 times (like I said, Thom was a nomad)
Thom was a computer programmer for most of his life. He was also a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather & son. He loved to play the guitar, dance and his sense of humor was off the charts. He passed that down to several of his children and grandchildren.
Thom is survived by his wife, Linda Mitchell, his son's Thomas Jr. (Enjoli) Mitchell, Jeremiah Mitchell and Caleb Mitchell, his daughters Kathy Deffenbaugh, Keysha Mitchell, Saundra Mitchell, Shivaun Miner (Neil) & Kira Mitchell. His Brothers, Harry (Sue), Clinton (Conyce) & Dale (Helen) Mitchell, his Sisters Nelda Ashauer, Verla Tidwell (Neil), Helena Leckenby. He is also survived by 18 Grandchildren & 2 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey Allen and Dorothy Mitchell. His brothers Harvey A. (Georigia - still living) Mitchell, Patrick (Karen) Mitchell, Betty (Joe) Vigil, Joyce Miller, Kathy Miller, Pauline (Hershal) Frase, Ellen Robson and Susie Tonorio. He was also proceeded in death by 1 grandchild.
Thom lived a very full life of love, heartache, joy, sadness, laughter, crying, goofballing, straightlaced (Very rarely), happiness, honor and integrity. Our prayers is that everyone will have the opportunity to live the way that he did.
