Sheryl Hinkle

May 2, 1954 — March 18, 2022

Centennial

Sheryl Lynn (Daubs) Hinkle, 67, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 18th, 2022. Sheryl was born in Olney and raised in Mt. Erie, Illinois, daughter to Ruth and Leslie Daubs and the youngest of three siblings, Carol and Maury. She graduated Valedictorian from Cisne High School and with honors from Eastern Illinois University. She moved to Chicago and met her future husband, Jeffrey R. Hinkle, at a bowling alley in 1979, where a friendly wager on the game marked the start of a 43-year love-filled life together. Sheryl and Jeff were married in 1980 and together raised two children, Jeffrey R. Hinkle, Jr. and Carrie Hinkle Griffith.

Sheryl raised her family in Colorado and will be remembered for her nurturing presence, sharp mind, quick wit and love of cooking. She and Jeff were avid travelers, a fitting pastime for Sheryl having worked as Senior Manager of HR & Employee Relations at United Airlines for 40 years. Sheryl had a passion for gardening and loved sharing the activity with her grandchildren. Sheryl treasured her time spent at home, surrounded by her family with a good meal and laughter around the Euchre table. Sheryl was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and devoted friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Sheryl is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Reed Hinkle, Sr., her son Jeffrey Reed Hinkle, Jr. (Ashley) and daughter, Carrie Hinkle Griffith (Perry), and her grandchildren: Leslie Elizabeth Griffith, Evelyn Reed Griffith, Charles Perry Griffith IV, Gabriella Lynn Hinkle, and Conrad Reed Hinkle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 2nd, 2022 for family. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Sheryl’s honor to a cause that you hold dear.
