Scott Gerber

d. October 18, 2023

Santa Fe, NM

Scott Gerber died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 59.
His life was built on two rocks: giving to and sharing with others, and creative ideas for which he was a bottomless fount. He manifested these in many ways, from the design and publishing world to the never-ending gifts of love he shared with family and friends.
As a young man, his focuses were on alternative healing, graphic design, and the outdoors, scaling the Southwest's crags and running its rivers. Becoming a family man became another infinite outlet for his passion for life.
In addition to being a graphic designer and art director, he was associate publisher of the Santa Fe Real Estate Weekly and for twelve years was publisher of Terra Nova Books. Following its sale, he founded Banned Books for All, a nonprofit fighting nationwide against censorship of young people's reading.
Scott also served as a youth soccer coach, vice president of the board of Desert Academy, and a founder of the La Cañada Wireless Association.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their children, Nick and Maggie; his sister, Jill, and her husband, Randy Gilbert, and their children, Evan and Sam; his father, Marty, and his wife, Susan; and his aunt, Sherry Bobroff. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda.
Scott's life will be celebrated with an Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, November 5, at the Eldorado Community Center (1 Hacienda Loop). There will be a remembrance at noon where all are encouraged to share.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the causes that were dear to Scott's heart: New Mexico Wild, The Food Depot, Galisteo Basin Preserve, or ProPublica.
