Ruth Mary Bangs Lancaster, age 79, died on October 26th, 2025, from Alzheimer peacefully and surrounded by family, the wonderful staff of Morningstar Observatory Park and Bloom Hospice Care. Ruth Mary was born June 16, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Frank and Margaret Bangs. She went to attend the University of Kansas, where she met her husband of 46 years, George Lancaster.
Ruth Mary dedicated her life to taking care of others. Whether it was educating future generations or welcoming people into her home, Ruth Mary always welcomed with open arms often serving as a second mother or grandmother to many. She was at her happiest spending time with loved ones. Gardening offered her a sense of solace and served as a creative outlet, allowing her to craft stunning, masterful gardens for everyone to appreciate. As a member of the Edina Garden Club, her beautiful floral arrangements were showcased in parks across the city. She also enjoyed needlepointing, reading and was actively involved in her church.
Ruth Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Bangs. Ruth Mary is survived by her four daughters Leslie Golinvaux (David), Laura Triplett (Joe), Simmy Kelley (Matt) and Margee Lancaster. Her seven grandchildren, Cece, Annie, Caroline, Jolee, Georgia, George and Frank. As well as many loving relatives.
Celebration of Life Services will be scheduled in the early Spring in Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer Organization or local hospice organizations.
