Ruth Josephine (Stinson) Eversmeyer (April 7, 1934 – August 8, 2025):

“God has Blessed me with a wonderful life. He has seen me through some rough times and led me to rely on the saying, The Lord never gives you more than the two of you can handle“.

Ruth Josephine (Stinson) Eversmeyer, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, in Hermitage, TN. She was born on April 7, 1934, in Olpe, Kansas. She was a devoted mother to four (4) children: Clair Eversmeyer with grandchildren Jesse and Kayce Eversmeyer, Kent Eversmeyer and wife, Maureen, with grandchildren Meagan and Austin (Caroline) Eversmeyer and Denise Eversmeyer Taylor (Doug Taylor) with grandchildren Robert and David Taylor. She was also a loving wife for sixty-six (66) years to Dr. Harold Eversmeyer who preceded her in death along with daughter, Elaine Eversmeyer.

Ruth will be remembered for her gentle heart, gracious warmth, welcoming smile and kindness to all. She always made everyone who passed through her door feel welcome and had good things to say about people, hated to inconvenience anyone, was super creative, made every occasion special and tried to make sure that no one left hungry. Ruth had a passion for flowers and could make the most beautiful arrangements with flowers she planted. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed music, especially barbershop, and filled her house with piano, singing and sometimes guitar. She made a career in floral design, public relations, and as Director of Volunteer Services for Murray Calloway County Hospital, but she made a life by her steadfast and loving support of her family in all of their respective life adventures and locations (Piney Campground, Kiwanis, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Murray Band Boosters, Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Lexington, Alaska, Nashville, Huntsville, California, Kansas and Texas). She was known for making yeast rolls and could turn them into the best cinnamon rolls you’ve ever eaten, and she loved cookbooks (lots of them). Her smile and loving presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center in Murray, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adopt a Golden of Nashville or to the Brass Band of Huntsville in her memory.
