Ruth Anne Bowman (nee Funderburk) died peacefully at home near Denver, CO on August 30, 2026, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by family and comforted by her strong Christian faith. Ruth was born August 26, 1947 in Springfield, IL, and grew up nearby in New City. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Southern Illinois University and eventually a master’s degree in library science. Ruth had a lifelong love of learning and gardening. She also loved walking and exploring. Her travels took her as far as Kathmandu, Nepal. Ruth was a devoted mother to her three daughters Adrien, Sarah, and Eden, a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, and a reliable helper to her friends and neighbors. She will be deeply missed. Ruth’s cremains will be interred at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, where she had served as a docent.
