Roxann was born March 31, 1952, in Detroit, MI and passed away on December 9, 2025, at Modena Cherry Creek Assisted Living in Denver, CO, where she had lived for over three years.
She grew up in the Detroit area, and after skipping second grade, our smart friend graduated from Bloomfield Hills High School and then attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and Masters in Social Work
Roxann came to Denver to visit her sister Kathryn in the mid-70’s and never left. She had a long and dedicated career of over 30 years with Denver Department of Human Services in the Child Protection and Youth Services Departments.
Roxann was married to Chuck Spall for several years, and they had a Scottie dog named Bemis (short for “Beam me up, Scottie”), but she was a cat person at heart, later having Simon, Hank and Louie, and Jake and Ridley over the years. She also loved to travel worldwide with her sister Kathryn and friends and collected many pieces of art on those trips, the quirkier the better. She was a member of a crafts group with friends from work and was very talented at complex needlework, completing many pillows, runners, etc., which she shared with her friends. Roxann had a wonderful sense of humor along the lines of Firesign Theater and Monty Python. She was also an avid sports fan, particularly of the Rockies and Avalanche. Of course, she also cheered on her Michigan Wolverines. She knew the lyrics to every Beatles song and didn’t hesitate to sing along with the radio.
Roxann was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie Payor Chieger and George Chieger, and her sister Kathryn Chieger. There will be a gathering of friends planned for late March of 2026.
