Richard Lockwood Obituary

Richard Lockwood of Westminster, Colorado, died of an aneurysm on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, following a long and distinguished career of being, by all accounts, a cantankerous old man.

He was a beloved husband and father whose wife promised to never let anyone know had a really sweet core. (Oops, sorry, Rick!)

Richard had a gift for making his opinions known, whether anyone had asked for them or not. He could be stubborn, sarcastic, ornery, and occasionally impossible—which is to say, he was entirely himself. But he was a man who loved deeply, cared fiercely, and was always there for those who mattered to him.

He was a man of many interests, a martial artist and a Marine, who served during a very hard time. We thank him for that service. (Which he’d hate. He’d tell us he was just doing his job.)

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, family, friends, and countless stories that will undoubtedly begin with, “Richard would have hated this…”

He will be remembered for his sharp wit, stubborn streak, big heart, and the particular talent of making people laugh—even when he wasn't trying to.

He was a cantankerous old man.

He was a Marine.

He was a husband who was loved enormously.

And, apparently, he was really sweet.

Sorry, Richard. The secret's out.
