Norma Howland

Norma Ann Howland was born to George Avery and Phyllis (Delmastro) Avery in Peoria, Illinois, on April 20, 1934.  She grew up in El Vista, Illinois, and graduated from Woodruff High School in 1952.

After graduation, Norma went to work as a secretary at R.G. Letourneau Company.  In 1958, she married Erm Jaegle, and the couple moved to Chicago, Illinois.  Erm Passed away in 1963.

Norma was working for Sinclair Oil Company in 1968 when she met Maurice Howland.  They married the following year and lived together in Detroit, Michigan.  Norma and Maurice enjoyed early retirement and moved to Colorado in 1973 to be near Norma’s mother and her sister, Mary Linn.  Norma and Maurice celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on January 31, 2022.

Norma loved to travel, and she and Maurice visited all 50 states.  She also loved cruising and entertaining family and friends.  She was a devoted sister to Mary and aunt to Mary’s daughters, Sandy, Susan, and Sharon.

Norma spent her last months at the Lakewood Reserve in the care of the compassionate staff there.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, on March 30, 2022.
