Nelson Lee Frye, age 83, of Denver, Colorado passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dodie” Frye whom he loved dearly. He leaves behind a loving family including his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Frye; his son, Nelson David Frye and his wife, Donna; his step-sons, John Ritsick and wife, Louisa, and Joshua Ritsick and wife, Katie; his brother Herbert Kirchner; and five grandchildren - Emily, James, Aidan, Neale, and Jessica - who held a special place in his heart. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marcia, and his brother, Chuck.
Nelson was born in Columbus, OH, on July 23, 1942. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1960. He was a member of the Army Reserves and his educational background included an Associates Degree in Technology from Columbus Technical Institute, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Miami University, a Master’s Degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University, a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development from University Associates. In addition, he was a Graduate of the Engineering Economics Program at Iowa State University.
Nelson was very proud of his professional career that included a dual track that emphasized technology and the human side of business. His education and associated work experience prepared him for engineering, management and executive positions. He had long careers with AT&T, that included (Western Electric, Ohio Bell, and American Transtech), ARC International Ltd., and Accenture. He became a master trainer in work force development and leadership training. He conducted training in 11 different countries, and most states within the United States. He was instrumental in developing programs for people to manage themselves for success at work.
Nelson was an avid sports fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and he loved Colorado. For most of his life, he kept himself in top physical condition through a disciplined weight lifting regimen. He also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and dancing. He had a great appreciation for nature and animals which was apparent from the lion paintings that graced the walls of his home, and the pet dogs and cats which he enjoyed.
A celebration of Nelson's life will be held on Monday, August 10 at 11:30AM at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122
