Mary (Marie) Lorenza Gallion

August 29, 1943 – February 18, 2021

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, Marie Gallion passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her family by her side.  Born in Alexandria, Louisiana to Willie and Mary Magdeline LaCour.

At six months old, the family moved to Albuquerque’s Martineztown, finally settling in San Jose, where Marie was raised. Marie attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, spending her summers in Louisiana. In 1955, Marie met Alphonse at a dance at her uncle’s farm in Louisiana. Marie and Alphonse married in Albuquerque in 1963.

Marie’s early career included time as a seamstress at Pioneer Wear, and as a makeup artist for Goldwater’s and Dillard’s.  Later, Marie would become interested in natural health, spending 26 years managing Dr. Reginald de Pelichy’s Chiropractic clinic.

Marie is survived by her husband, Alphonse D. Gallion Jr., her children; Russell “Jerry” Gallion, Tryce Renee Gallion, and Alphonse D. Gallion, III; her granddaughters Sydney Mathis and Jordyn Montano; and her great-grandson, Brandon Lucero.  Marie is also survived by her siblings, Nola Monette, Virginia and Westley Dubriel, Billy and Elena LaCour, and Louis LaCour, and by nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and many friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary LaCour, and her son, Thomas Gallion.

Marie will be greatly missed by all who came to know her.  What great times were had!  Surely, she is leading the celebration on the other side with her parents, son and other loved ones that went before her.

The Rosary will be Friday, April 9, 2021, at 8:30 am and a Mass will be celebrated immediately after at 9:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3424 Fourth Street NW, Albuquerque NM 87107. Masks are required for attendees.  A live stream of the mass will be available on St. Therese’s Facebook page
