Lawrence Edward "Larry" Jansen, Jr.

January 19, 1951 — July 10, 2025

Lakewood, Colorado

Lawrence Edward “Larry” Jansen Jr, 74, passed away July 10th, 2025 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. Born January 19th, 1951 in Denver, Colorado, Larry spent his life rooted in the state that he loved.

Larry was, at heart, a mountain man. His deepest passion was the outdoors, often taking trips up further than most would dare, off-roading, fishing and camping under open skies. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Lawrence Sr. and began his electrical career at Gould and Preisner. Larry was the proud owner of Maverick Electric and had a fulfilling career as a Master Electrician. He was well regarded for his skill and dedication to his work and deeply respected by his clients and coworkers alike. A staunch supporter of the second amendment and an active member of the NRA, Larry was a passionate enthusiast of firearms; He took joy in teaching others about the fun in safe gunmanship. Larry was also an avid collector of coins and memorabilia commemorating John Wayne–an icon of his he had a deep admiration for because of his strength and self-reliance.

Always the joker, Larry was known to those around him as a funny, outgoing and charismatic man. He took any opportunity–sometimes even the inappropriate ones–to make you smile. Larry was known by his family to always be able to paint a picture with his storytelling, recalling most any event, even years past. His recollection of his life and the people he cared for always stood the test of time, and even in death, his vivid visuals and descriptive legacy live on.

Larry is preceded in death by his father and namesake Lawrence Jansen Sr. and his mother Marceline Jansen. He is remembered fondly by his children, Kevin Jansen and Rachel Jansen, his granddaughter Ariana Jansen, his sisters Sharon McDaniel and Geraldine Ensminger, and his best friend and roommate Christina Johnson. The extended family, friends and people he met along the way all had their lives touched by an adventurous, independent, loving man.

May the memory of Lawrence “Larry” Jansen Jr–a man of grit, humor, loyalty and pride–bring peace to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is with his beloved dog, Marcy, in the mountains.
