Hawaii by his family for his final place of rest. He is survived by his mother Tiana
Annette Baca-Kaula, father, Buck Kaula, of Hawaii, his 2 younger brothers Keoni and
Kalani Kaula, He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Sofie Baca, his Uncle
Eddie, Cathy McCartney-Greg Sachs, Louise Britton, Pete & Arlene Gabaldon, Anthony
& Thiel Baca, Peter &Teresa Baca, Raymond & Michelle Baca, Sandra Baca, Audra
D’Arcangeli, Melissa Reeves, Mark and Paulette Asplund and 53 cousins. He is
preceded in death by his grandfather Tony G. Baca, Aunt Rachael Baca-Kerby. Keola
was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where he spent the first 2 years of his life then later
moved to NM and grew up in Belen and Albuquerque. Keola had a fierce love for his
family. He was very protective of his grandparents, mom and extremely, passionately
protective of his brothers. His love for cars kept him busy with meticulous detail.
Keola’s main emphasis was always about people and always lending a helping hand.
Whether he knew you or not, with his generous and charismatic personality, he was
always ready and willing to help his fellow human being. Keola loved life and had such
a child-like attitude that constantly kept a smile on his face. Always believing that
everyone is deserving and good, he was always laughing, showing off his brilliantly
white teeth. Taking after his grandfather Tony Baca, he was always interested in
helping anyone and continued to teach them anything they wanted to know but mostly
about video games or cars. In 1995, at 12 years of age, Keola entered the NATIONAL
SEGA SATURN VectorMan Contest. Winners had a chance to win the grand prize -
$25,000. To claim prizes, players must first call the secret phone number and then mail in
their winning VectorMan cartridge to the secret address by July, 1996. He told his mom
“I’m going to enter the contest so I can win a Sega Game Box for my brothers and I! So
for Christmas, Santa left him the VectorMan video game and in record time of 3 1/2
hours, WIN HE DID!! He was the first one in the U.S. who beat the game without any
cheat codes, won the $25,000.00 and $5,000.00 worth of game equipment and games.
Keola loved people, video games, music, baseball/Pokémon cards. His love for all of
these led him to host his own you-tube online gaming and Pokémon show called
“Shadez Brekz” . Keola and his beautiful smile will be sorely missed! The family
would like to thank everyone who has reached out to share their stories about how he
aided them at one time or another. And most importantly, thank you to his loving
mother and family who never surrendered or gave up on him; for being at his side
through thick and thin.
