Kathryn Phurrough

April 26, 1938 — February 12, 2026

Centennial, Colorado

Kathryn Phurrough, age 87, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026. She grew up in Port St. Joe, Florida, where the roots of her strong faith, loving spirit, and dee devotion to family were formed early in life.

Kathryn was the beloved wife of Arthy Phurrough; a devoted mother to Eve Lowry (and son-in-law John Lowry), Sherrie Phurrough and Bryan Phurrough; a cherished grandmother to Courtney Schil (and husband Eric Schile), Jamie Lowry, and Jake Lowry (and wife Tatum Lowry); and a proud and loving great-grandmother to Baker Schlie. Her greatest Joy was her family, and she reflected Christ’s love in the way she cared of each of them.

She dedicated much of her life to serving children as a preschool director, faithfully nurturing young hearts and minds. Through her leadership, she created a place where children were known, loved and encouraged – a reflection of the compassion she carried in her own heart.

Kathryn was a devoted and longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Denver. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She loved worship, fellowship and serving others, and she lived out her faith with quiet strength, kindness and unwavering trust in the Lord. Her life was a testimony to God’s grace, and she found comfort in His promises.

Those who knew Kathryn will remember her gentle wit, her generous heart, and the warmth she carried into every room. She had sweetness about her that made people feel safe and loved, and a quiet strength and reflected her deep trust in God.

Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

A funeral service celebrating Kathryn’s life and faith will be held at 2:00 PM MST on Friday, March 13, 2026, with a reception immediately following at Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, 6500 E. Girard Ave., Denver, CO 80224.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Denver in Kathryn’s memory.

“The Lord in my shepherd; I shall no want … Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:1,6

Kathryn will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
