Katherine Dorrance

Katherine M. Dorrance, 87, of Albuquerque/Anton Chico, New Mexico peacefully went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Katherine was born in Fort Washakie, Wyoming on April 27, 1933 to Peter and Lucinda Aragon. She was born and raised in Wyoming and was from the Wind River Shoshone Tribal Reservation. Though she lived most her life in New Mexico, her heart was always up home with her native family.

Katherine lived mostly in Albuquerque but loved spending most of her time at her getaway home in Anton Chico. You could always find her wearing her straw hat out in her yard taking care of her plants. Her door was always open to family, friends and those in need of a helping hand. She loved spending time with family, especially with her great grandchildren whom she loved and adored so much. She has been and always will be a huge part in her families’ lives.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, her two sons Benito Dorrance and Richard Dorrance along with five brothers and ten sisters.  She is survived by her two sisters Regina Sage and Beverly Thomas of Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Her three daughters Rachel Hern (Greg) of Edgewood, NM, Patricia Martinez (Johnny) of Albuquerque, NM, and Mari Dorrance of Albuquerque, NM. Grandchildren: Ben Dorrance of Iowa, Richard Dorrance Jr. and Family of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph Dorrance and Family of Arizona, Adam, Adrian, Abriall Hern and Amber Lucero (Ricardo) of Anton Chico, NM, Noel Sanchez (Jason) of Germany, and Christopher and Victoria Hern of Albuquerque, NM. Great Grandchildren: Christian Dorrance, Adam Jr, Marissa and Christian Hern. Mariah, Marie and Adrian Jr, Hern. Hope and Faith Sanchez. Raquel and Leland Lucero. Benito Dorrance. Great Great Grandchildren: Tautofi Avila-Fido and Jeanette Tofilo.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

As long as there is love and memory, there will be no loss.

Cremation has taken place, due to the Covid-19 restrictions the family will hold a memorial service at a later date and immediate family members will invite Katherine’s family and friends to join them in celebrating her life.
