Karen lived life to the fullest since she was a little girl. Her dad died when she was little so it was her & her mom. She would be the first to admit she was challenging throughout her teenage years. Her Momma, which Karen always endearingly called her Mother, always encouraged, never judged her and was her best friend who she could turn to and trust for anything growing up. Karen's Momma adored her girl until she passed 10 years ago which broke Karen's heart.
Karen had many friends in the Kansas City area where she was born and raised. Her favorite things were hanging out with friends in Shawnee. She attended as many rock concerts as possible, big or small venues it didn't matter because she loved music. She always loved nature caring for any animal that needed her. She loved riding in fast cars and riding motorcycles.
Karen loved BBQ especially Quicks. She created a recipe she called "Biker Beans" and every large gathering it was requested. It was called that I believe, because she made huge amounts to share at bike rally's through the years. She never cared what anyone thought about her lifestyle, the was she dressed, what she said, she was just Karen. It was refreshing in a world where too many are superficial.
She was generous with her time to help others and fight for the injustices in this world. Not much angered Karen but seeing injustices against humans or animals would set her off. She attended Wichita State to finish her degree while living with her Momma and Step Father.
Karen moved to Colorado after finishing her degree. She fell in love with everything about the State including her Bronco's. She found her true love and the one who would become her best friend, Duane Corts "Dewey" who she spent the remainder of years with.
She would return to Kansas City to visit friends when she could. She would buy a case of Quicks BBQ sauce to take back home every-time she visited. Her visits were mainly when she'd come for family reunions. She loved her family and their reunions held mostly in Paola, KS. Family traveled near and far to attend and she looked forward to seeing them all and eating Morel mushrooms they'd harvested for her.
She loved Christmas and would send Christmas gift boxes with goodies to her friends and family no matter how far away they lived. It brought her joy and everyone anxiously awaited to see what she'd sent.
Things she loved doing with her love Dewey. Traveling the World, a timeshare holder in the Cayman islands, camping, boating and snorkeling, dressing up to be a Queen at Colorado renaissance festivals, loved her 6 dogs and several birds, riding her own motorcycle Dewey built for her and snowmobiling, loved to make and sell jewelry mail order and consignment, loved to read books, working as a lab technician and loved her family and friends.
Karen was a large presence and her heart was as big as her personality. Karen was a generous and loving soul.
