Joseph T. Mirabella, 67, passed away at home on February 26, 2012. Survived by his loving wife, Sharon; sister Dolores Mirabella; daughters Emily Johnson and Anne Mirabella; and granddaughters, Hannah, Madison and Chloe. He also leaves behind stepdaughters Susanna Donato and Melissa Kulesa; and granddaughters Lydia, Ava and Zoe. He was preceded in death by his mother Irene and father Joe, Sr.

Joe and his twin sister, Dolores, were born in New York, NY on September 23 and 24; he three minutes before midnight and she four after. He grew up in Long Beach, NY, within walking distance to the ocean where he worked summers as a lifeguard. He graduated from St. Agnes Catholic High School in 1962 and attended the University of Dayton in Ohio, graduating in 1966. There he was part of Chi Sigma Alpha Fraternity where he met lifelong friends. He went on to earn a Master's degree from Ohio University. He then served in the Army Transportation Corps. He supervised the loading and unloading of ships during the Vietnam War.

In 1976, he married Jennifer Sutter of Long Beach, NY. Joe and Jennifer had two daughters, Emily and Annie. Joe and Jennifer later moved to Denver, CO where Joe was the Director of Pupil Transportation for Cherry Creek Schools for over 20 years.

In 2004, Joe married Sharon Donato Smith, nee Ammann, of Pueblo, CO. Together they spent happy years enjoying plays, meals and travelling.

Joe was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved history, especially the Civil War, and he loved to read. His eclectic taste in music, everything from Bach to Jimi Hendrix, was very influential to his daughters. He was surrounded by women most of his life, and he loved it. He took special joy in all of his granddaughters.
