Joan Marcia Lotz, age 86, passed away on August 31, 2024, with loving family members by her side. Born in 1938 to Margaret (Berlik) and Stanley Briske, she grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with two younger sisters, Kathy Ludwig and Dawn Harrison. After meeting and marrying Jacob (Jack) Bechtel, they were blessed to have 8 children: Debra Mastellone, Deanna (Larry) Case, Darlene (Brad) Jones, Denice (Daryl) Loud, Dawn (Peter) Wright, Donna (Brian) Curtis, Douglas (Teresa) Bechtel and Daniel (Julie) Bechtel.
In 1972, they moved to Colorado where she stayed at home raising their children and being a devoted mother and wife. When the children were grown, Joan went back to school and earned an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems.
Jack passed away in 2000 after 42 years of marriage. She found love again and married Richard Lotz in 2004. Richard’s 2 children, Kathy Wenzel and Frank Lotz, and 1 grandchild joined the family. Richard and Joan celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in June.
Joan had a strong faith in God which never wavered, and she was a prayer warrior, praying for everyone. Joan loved butterflies and angels and decorated her home with them. She found great joy in reading, quilting, crocheting, sewing, and creating countless cherished items for her family and friends.
Joan will be greatly missed by her husband, Richard, and her blended family of many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warm and joyful spirit was a beacon of happiness to those around her. She will be remembered for her optimistic attitude and the deep love she had for God and her family.
