Obituary

Jeremy John Hackney, age 41, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1984, in Williston, North Dakota, to Don Hackney and Laurie Farris Haugen.

Jeremy will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his passion for animals, and his ability to bring joy into any room he entered. Growing up, Jeremy enjoyed playing football, rollerblading, horseback riding, and hanging out with his brother and friends.

Jeremy also had a deep love for hip-hop, especially Tupac, whose music and message resonated with him throughout his life. His passion for music shined through his love of rapping and writing lyrics.

Jeremy had a remarkable gift for making people laugh, even during life’s most difficult moments. He was known for his positive outlook, his appreciation for the little things, and the genuine love he showed to everyone around him. His warmth, humor, generous heart, and unforgettable smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his father, Don (Angie) Hackney, step-father Jeff (Bernell) Haugen, siblings Joshua Hackney, Johanna (Nathan) Roten, Shaylyn Hackney, Jayme (Landon) Franklin, Tanner (Dana) Hackney, grandmothers Annette Braley and Arlis Farris, special niece Summer Hackney, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lyle Hackney and Larry Farris, mother, Laurie Haugen, and step sister Jennifer Haugen Nicholls.

A celebration of life will be held in Denver on August 8, with details to come. Jeremy will be laid to rest with his mother in Minot, ND. The family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time.
