Jeffrey Ryan Carlin: An Adventurous and Loving Spirit June 19, 1985 – July 4, 2026 Jeffrey Ryan Carlin, age 41, of Denver, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2026. He died following a mountain hiking accident on the summit of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. 

Jeffrey was born on June 19, 1985 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His family relocated to Gainesville, Florida in November 1988. Jeff graduated from Gainesville High School in 2003 and went on to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida beginning in the fall of 2003. On December 15, 2007 he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.

 Following graduation, Jeff and his friend, Wendy, along with their puppy Layla, moved to Panama City Beach for Wendy's nursing education. This is where Jeff joined Wells Fargo as a bank teller. After this, Jeff returned to his hometown of Gainesville for a few years where he advanced to Manager of the Haile North branch of Wells Fargo. 

In 2018, Jeff, his beloved cat, Sunny, and his dad made a road trip to Denver, Colorado for his new adventures. Once settled there, through diligent work he accomplished numerous insurance certifications to meet qualifications to become a Senior Claims Representative. He joined Old Republic Bitco Insurance over a year ago. They have all been empathetic and supportive following this heartbreaking event. 

Living in the heart of Denver Jeff quickly became an avid sports fan of the local Colorado sports scene, but he remained faithful to his ultimate favorites: the Indianapolis Colts and the Florida State Seminoles. He also maintained his childhood activities of bowling with a league and enjoyed playing Magic: The Gathering with friends that met on a regular basis. He was an avid member of the F45 Training Center in Uptown Denver. There, he exercised frequently, eventually expanding into various fitness competitions both locally and out of state. The F45 team celebrated his many achievements with various recognitions and awards after his passing. Having grown up in Florida he embraced snow skiing but his real challenge was how many "Fourteeners" he could summit during his time there. Longs Peak, July 4th, the last one summited was #22. He was on his way..

Jeff was also on his way to a new and exciting chapter in his personal life. He and the love of his life, Jakeria Clark of Gainesville, were beginning to make long term plans together. They had met several years ago through Jeff's work at Wells Fargo and over the past few months, the relationship blossomed into more than a friendship. A cruise had already been booked to celebrate Jakeria's birthday, representing just one of the many adventures they were looking forward to sharing. 

Throughout his adult life, Jeff deeply valued maintaining close relationships and friendships. He always made time to visit and catch up with his many relatives and friends, including those from his childhood, spanning distances both near and far.

 It is shared with much sorrow that Jeff was preceded in death by three close friends, also way too early. Jeff is survived by his parents, Bonnie and Jim Carlin; his sister, Stefanie Potter and her husband Joe, and their children, Weston and Jade; his girlfriend, Jakeria Clark; his half-sister, Elizabeth Weyrauch; his nephew, Trey Goodspeed and his wife, Katie; as well as his half-brother, Matthew Carlin. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched throughout his journey. 

Jeff w ill be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his determination, his loyalty to family and friends, his love of sports and competition, his lifelong love of felines, his great sense of humor, and his excitement for the life he was building. He had so much more he wanted to accomplish and so many adventures ahead of him. He will be deeply missed by many and remain forever in the hearts of his loved ones.
