James Edward Beck

May 11, 1946 — Sep 27, 2026

On September 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, James (Jim) Edward Beck, 80, of Castle Rock, Colorado, peacefully left us to be with the Lord in Heaven, after an enduring battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Jim was born on May 11, 1946, in Minden, Nebraska, the second of two children to Reynold Clinton and Marjorie Marie Beck. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1964 and furthered his education at Fairbury Junior College and Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska, where he earned degrees in electronics. On July 1, 1967, Jim married the love of his life, Ruby Marie Myers, in Hebron, Nebraska. Together, they built a beautiful family and life, filled with devotion and joy.

In 1968, during the Vietnam War, Jim enlisted in the USAF. He earned top honors for his electronics training at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado and received top-secret security clearance and an assignment in Misawa, Japan. After his honorable discharge in 1972, Jim devoted 34 years to a successful career at Xerox Corporation, where he excelled as a Technician, Technical Trainer, and Technology Specialist until his retirement in 2005. Throughout his life, Jim was an active member of the Lutheran church, serving faithfully as an usher and on various community committees. His generosity and willingness to help others knew no bounds, and he continued to offer support to his friends in the retired Xerox breakfast group, often providing rides to those in need.

Jim truly never met a stranger. He had the unique ability to strike up conversations with anyone, anywhere, often leading to lasting friendships and shared laughter. He was known for his deep voice, great big smile, affable nature, and quirky sense of humor. His super power was that he could make anything into a Dad Joke!

His passion for electronics went beyond his career, as he delighted in tinkering and inventing. He built his first computer from a kit, long before it was a common household item. He brought entertainment into the house in the form of (pirated)HBO, crafting a satellite antenna from a round metal sled and a coffee can and mounting it to the roof. He made it easier to be a latch-key kid by building a keypad that could open the garage door and, along with our neighbor, developed and prototyped the automatic faucet long before it was introduced in all public restrooms. (Had he thought to patent it, he would’ve been set for life!)

Jim also had a love for photography. He captured beautiful scenery, sunsets, and sunrises, as well as his favorite subjects— his grandsons. His family was at the heart of everything Jim did; he never missed an opportunity to see

his grandsons play, always cheering them on with love and enthusiasm.

Jim's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Ruby; his cherished children, Ginger and her husband Nick; and Jon and his wife Shane; and his five treasured grandchildren, Reagan, Cooper, Owen, Chase, and Quinn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra (Beck) Gardner.

His family extends their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Highline Place Memory Care, the Abode Hospice team, and Agape Senior Day Care for their compassionate care and love shown to Jim in his final months.

Jim will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private ceremony, and a casual, intimate Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date.

In honor of Jim's memory, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of generosity and kindness that Jim embodied throughout his life.
