Jackie Sue Hodge

Jackie Sue Hoofman Hodge, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on July 17, 1944, in Lepanto, Arkansas, to Wilson and Jewel Hoofman, Jackie was raised with simple core values of faith, family, and resilience that carried her through life’s many seasons. Though petite in stature, she was known for her boundless energy and spirited personality—“Dynamite came in a small package,” as those who knew her often said. From an early age, she embraced life with enthusiasm and determination. She was “born on Go!” and never slowed down.

Jackie shared a devoted marriage with her beloved husband, John Hodge. Their union was one of enduring love and partnership until his passing. After John's death, Jackie relocated to Nashville to live with her cherished niece Cindy Thomas—whom she lovingly called her “third daughter”—alongside Cindy’s husband Jack and their son Taylor Parks. This new chapter brought joy and comfort as she remained surrounded by family.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Jackie knew her Lord and Savior personally. Her name was written in the Great Book as a saved Christian—a truth that brought her peace throughout her life and into eternity.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: son Dave Word; daughters Beth (Steve) May and Alicia (Nate) Barnes. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Destre (Tony) Sallee, Lauren May, Lindsay May, Kesi Barnes, Kayleigh Barnes, and Seth Barnes; as well as great-granddaughter Juniper Sallee.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband John Hodge; parents Wilson and Jewel Hoofman; sister Ronnie Duvall; and brother-in-law Gene Duvall.

Her vibrant spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. May loving memories bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and joy to those who celebrate the life she so fully lived.
