Jackie D Elwell passed away peacefully.
Jackie was born on June 19, 1950, to Thelma and Lawrence Hunt in Las Vegas, NV. She lived in different places but will always call Colorado home. Jackie met the love of her life, and married Steve Elwell on April 6, 1974. The two of them loved going on canoe trips with their friends and floating the many different rivers during their travels. Boating in Lake Powell was also one of their passions along with scuba diving. Jackie and Steve welcomed their daughter Dena into the world on January 5, 1979, and then their son Daniel on October 13, 1981. Jackie was an amazing mother and loved her children dearly. She was also an amazing friend to all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
25 years ago, Jackie was given 6 months to live when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. She never hesitated and was going to beat the odds. She held off on her bone marrow transplant in order to care for Steve, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer. On July 1, 1999, Jackie lost the love of her life. Over the years she had one medical event after the other but kept on fighting. She continued to be the most amazing mother, sister, aunt and friend. After years of uphill battles, it was time for her to be with her loved ones and be at peace. She will be deeply missed by all, but rest assured, she is in a better place and smiling down on all of us with all her love and memories.
