Helen Lorene Prosser

Dec 6, 1938 — Jul 28, 2026

Helen Lorene Prosser, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by her daughter, son, son-in-law, and her two granddaughters. She was born on December 6. 1938, in Monroe Michigan, where she lived until moving to Colorado after graduating from college at the age of 20. At the age of 23, she met and married Richard (Dick) Prosser. They continued to live in Colorado the rest of their lives and were married for 58 years. Helen lived a life centered on love, family, friendship, and quiet strength. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great step-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and a faithful friend whose kindness and steady presence enriched the loves of everyone who knew her.

Helen was born to Roy and Loise (Reese) McManaway and grew up alongside her 5 siblings. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Prosser, Parents; Roy and Lois McManaway, brothers; Don McManaway and Leslie Eavenson and Tyler Prosser, her son-in-law; Michael Balkema, her daughter-in-law; Sarah Prosser, her six beloved grandchildren; Jordan Monson, Jessica Eavenson, Keegan Prosser. Maddox Prosser, Emily Balkema, and Quinn Balkema, her great grandchildren; Noah Balkema, Josh Caldwell, Tessa Caldwell and her sister; Eileen Loth and Lori Lambert, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She built a meaningful career first as a teacher and later as an accountant and CFO for bureau of Land Management, where she retired at the age of 72. Whether in the classroom of the office, Helen was known for her intelligence, dedication, reliability, and quiet determination.

Helen shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Richard Prosser. Together they created a lifetime of memories through their love of travel and the adventures they shared side by side, including rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on their grandchildren from the sidelines at their sporting events, celebrating every milestone with pride and unconditional love. Though Richard is no longer with us, their love story remains an enduring part of Helen’s Legacy.

Helen enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life rich. She loved going to the gym, traveling, meeting a large group of friends for lunch, and spending evenings at friends’ homes playing card games. While Helen was naturally quiet and reserved, anyone who had the privilege of sitting with her and listening to stories from her younger years was blessed to discover a hidden side of her.

Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in the memories she gave us, the stories that will be told for years to come, and the enduring love the binds our family together. She will be deeply missed forever loved, and never forgotten
