Gregory Clair Gilbert

May 13, 1958 — September 22, 2025

Littleton, Colorado

Greg Gilbert, age 67, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 22, 2025.

Greg was born on May 13, 1958, in Colorado to Joy and Clair Gilbert. He grew up with a strong sense of family, hard work, and kindness that shaped the way he lived his life.

After retiring from King Soopers, Greg proudly served as a bus driver for the Jefferson County School District. To the children who rode his bus, he was more than a driver—he was a friendly and caring presence, someone they could count on each day. His kids loved him, and he found great joy in being part of their daily lives.

Outside of work, Greg’s passions revolved around sports, artistry, and family. A devoted Denver Broncos fan and lifelong season ticket holder, his basement was filled to the brim with Broncos memorabilia, a collection he built with pride. Greg was also an amazing artist who specialized in football, painting custom figurines with incredible detail. He was proud of his creations, and everyone who received one treasured it.

Greg also gave back to the sporting world as an umpire and referee for baseball, softball, and football. His dedication and skill led him to be selected multiple times to officiate in Cooperstown, an honor that reflected both his love of the game and the respect he earned from his peers.

At home, Greg poured his heart into maintaining his beautiful yard. One of his greatest joys was a family tradition: every spring, he and his children and grandchildren would place little critters in the flower garden out front, filling the yard with whimsy and memories that will last for generations. He especially loved teaching his grandchildren new sports, sharing with them his passion for the games he cherished.

Family was always at the center of Greg’s world. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; his sons, Ryan and Jordan; and his grandchildren, Phoenix, Forrest, and Ewing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joy and Clair Gilbert; his brother, Todd; and his sister, Shauna.

Greg will be remembered for his devotion to family, his artistry, his love of sports—whether as a fan, a teacher, an umpire, or a referee—his pride in his yard, and the kindness he shared with everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.
