Glenn Lee Gravelle

June 14, 1940 — May 27, 2026

Centennial, Colorado

Glenn Gravelle, husband, father, Poppa, brother, uncle, friend, and retired psychologist, passed away peacefully in his Centennial, CO home on May 27, 2026, at the age of 85, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Glenn was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on June 14, 1940. He graduated from Washington High School in 1958, served two years with the US Army, and returned to Sioux Falls to earn his BA in Business Management with a minor in Psychology from Augustana College. In 1961, he met his beautiful wife, LaDonna Kuehl, and they married August 4, 1963, in Jeffers, Minnesota. In 1965, they moved to Denver, Colorado, for Glenn to pursue a master’s degree (1967) and a doctorate (1982) at the University of Denver. In 1979, he started a thriving private practice specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy. He and LaDonna raised a daughter, Lori, and son, Ryan, in Littleton and Centennial, CO. He continued to study his field and mentor doctoral students at DU well after his retirement in 2010. He served on numerous boards including the Colorado Psychology Association (Ethics), Love INC, Church Staff Parish Relations Committee (Chair), and his HOA. He was a Toastmaster, a leader of fear-of-flying classes for The Ninety-Nines, and a winner of the CO Employee Assistance Program Association Provider of the Year. Glenn led speaking engagements locally, for the Air University (USAF, Maxwell AFB, Alabama) and for the University of Manila (Philippines). As a member of Littleton United Methodist Church since 1968, he facilitated numerous groups focusing on grief management, cancer support, care team ministry, and social justice. He volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity, Break Bread, Grant Avenue Street Reach, and went on numerous LUMC Mission work trips.

Glenn was a loving and attentive family patriarch, friend, caregiver, therapist, confidante, nature enthusiast, photographer, and community advocate. Glenn never met a stranger and was eager to hear everyone’s story. He gave endlessly to his church and community, serving meals to the hungry, giving rides to those who couldn’t drive, visiting friends enduring illnesses or loss, delivering medical supplies and improving housing in rural Colorado, Utah, Mexico, and Africa, and staying overnight in shelters with those without a roof on the coldest and darkest nights. He loved spending time in the mountains backpacking, fishing, snowshoeing, and photographing. He was devoted to others, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed all CO sports. During rough games, he frequently joked that he was expecting a call anytime from the team’s head office to sub in. He was a prolific correspondent using the mediums of letters, email, newspaper clippings, jokes, photos, and quotes. His passion for living a life of purpose, learning, commitment, integrity, focus on others, participation with nature, and gratitude is his legacy. His memory will live on in the hearts of the many, many people he touched, and he will be dearly missed.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Lester Gravelle; brothers, Roger and Kenneth Gravelle; Colleen Gravelle (sister-in-law); and Keith Overbey (brother-in-law)

Glenn is survived by his wife, LaDonna (Kuehl) Gravelle; Lori Brock (daughter); Ryan Gravelle (son) and wife, Annie; Mary Jo Overbey (sister); Virginia Gravelle (sister-in-law); Lucas Brock, Caroline Brock, Nate Gravelle and Adam Gravelle (grandchildren); many nieces and nephews; and LaDonna’s siblings, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews.
