Farrel DeBuhr

June 18, 1941 - December 28, 2023

Farrel Ann Mortier was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 18th, 1941 and passed away peacefully in Broomfield, Colorado on December 28th, 2023 at the age of 82.

On December 28th, Farrel was reunited with her sisters, Phyllis and Sharon Joy; her parents, Harvey and Sylvia; her niece, Sharon; and her grandparents, Jesse, Pauline, Herman, and Hedwig. She is survived by her children, Dean (Jo) and Dan; her nieces, Nancy (Jeff) and Amy (Mike); her nephew John (Doreen); her grandchildren, Deidre, Neal, Derrick, and Heidi; her great nieces, Chelsea, Lyndsay, Hilary, and Emily; and her great nephews, Erik, Austin, and Joshua. She is also survived by her former husband Ron. From their union, Farrel’s circle of family grew – some are still with us (Kenny, Klint, Heather, Kia, Cory, Kristina, and Adam and their children Klay, Kolton, Madi, Caleb, Gavin, Kameron, and Paige), and sadly, some aren’t (Karen, Ken, Deloris, and Donald), to name a few. Family meant everything to Farrel - It didn’t matter which branch of the tree they came from.

Her family is grateful that Farrel was able to live a full life for many, many years, before dementia robbed her mind (and eventually her body). She was always hard working, ultra-responsible with money, and fiercely independent – qualities she passed down to Dean and Dan (and they are appreciative). She took daily walks and loved playing Gin 13!

Nancy, Farrel was truly blessed to have you as a niece. Your regular trips to Colorado always warmed her heart. Her many pictures of Hawaii on her walls served as a constant reminder to her of her favorite spot on earth. She was “Mom” to you, and no doubt you were the daughter she never had, never-ending giving of yourself.

Dean and Dan, the patience and support you gave your Mom, especially in her last year, is beyond words. She was proud of you both.

Although Farrel is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in those who loved her. Her family will miss her thoughtfulness, her famous Christmas cookies and fudge, and the twinkle in her eye when she shared a special story.

Farrel’s ashes will be scattered in the beautiful Rocky Mountains sometime in Summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate.
