Ernest (Ernie) Victor Pelser was born May 25, 1987 to Vernon Pelser Jr, and Merlene (Jones) Pelser in Burlington Colorado. He passed away December 20, 2025 surrounded by family after a very short illness.
Ernie was welcomed home by his sisters Angela and Billie Jo, whom he loved dearly. He was always a fierce defender and a generous heart to those he held close. He seldom missed an opportunity to help, no matter the situation. He enjoyed working on cars as he spent much of his youth learning and working on cars with his father. One of his most prized possessions was his 1971 Chevelle Malibu that they spent many hours restoring together. In High School Ernie was known for that beautiful red car with the white super sport stripes. Many weekends Ernie and Angela would take off for a ride and never knew where they would end up or how long they would be gone, windows down and loving the adventure to nowhere in particular. There are lots of great memories for many with Ernie in his car.
Ernie was always a hard worker, an avid lover of science, dogs, mushrooms and sports. Not watching, but playing. If you ever visited with him I am sure he told you great tales of his years in sports. He was a great teammate on and off the court, a quality that he continued to carry all through his life. He enjoyed laughing, so a good joke or quick witted response was always readily available. Ernie loved dogs which he came by naturally, growing up in a home always full of animals. As a young boy he wanted a brother so when their donkey had a baby boy he was so excited to finally have a “brother”. His heart broke the day that his brother Jack kicked him for absolutely no reason. The rest of us couldn’t stop laughing. Ernie never had children, but he had dogs he loved with his whole heart. He spoke of them like children, Louie, Myles, Clyde, Oden, and his childhood best friends Max and Badger. Life for Ernie wasn’t complete without a dog. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Ernie’s love for animals to EPAWA 2000 Rose Ave, Burlington, CO. 80807
Though Ernie’s life was way to short he lived a life full of adventure, kindness and generosity. He moved to Ft Collins after high school and attended CSU and made many friends and they had grand adventures together hiking, 4-wheeling, and camping. Ernie loved the outdoors and hunting mushrooms was a favorite pastime. He had the opportunity to travel around the world and see many beautiful places, his favorites being Alaska and Canada. He was able to move back home and reconnect with his family this summer and live out a lifelong dream of living at the hay meadow even though it was for a very short time.
Ernie was preceded in death by his great grand parents Fred & Vivian Kiefer, Cy & Vera Smith, Wayne & Ethel Rix, grandparents Jim and Norma Jones, Kathie Meyers and Leonard Smith and Uncle Darwin Jones. Ernie will be greatly missed by a multitude of friends, his grand parents Vernon & Doris Pelser of Seibert Colorado, parents Vernon & Merlene of Bethune Colorado , sisters Angela (Jason) Ruhs of Bethune Colorado, Billie Jo (Michael) Rodriguez of Burlington Colorado, Nieces and Nephews Kenna Mullis (Kevin) daughters Elena & Azalea, Miles (Sarahy) Rodriguez, Peyton, Gavin, and Ragan Ruhs. As well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
