Dorothea Murdock

December 31, 1925 — September 18, 2020

Dorothea (Dottie) R. Murdock (Hart), who was almost 95, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on September 18, 2020 in Arvada, CO. where she resided for a very short time but will be interred at Sabastian Cemetery on US 1. She was born in 1925 in Winchester, Massachusetts to Winifred (Harriman) and George Hart, Sr. She married Russell W Murdock, Sr. on July 21, 1945 who has been deceased since May 19,2009. He was the love of her life. It was truly a blessing to have her around for so long!

She is survived by two sons, Russell, and Gary; three daughters, Linda, Leslie, and Susan; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren who meant the world to her. She was the glue that kept our family together and will be sorely missed.

Beside the intense love for her family, she also loved to travel all over the United States, enjoyed cruising and traveling abroad. Her pictures and passionate memories were shared with her family and friends with so much relish and enthusiasm. So much so, that you felt as though you were personally traveling with her. Some of her family enjoyed accompanying her on cruises as well as other locations across the world. What a wonderful life she lived with many extraordinary experiences! Dottie touched so many lives within her family as well as her friends and acquaintances. She was an amazing person in addition to leading an amazing life and left some pretty amazing people behind.

In the prime of her life, she worked at the Goodyear factory. Not content with her work situation, she enrolled in business school and was certified as an IBM comptroller at Filene's Department store in Boston, Massachusetts where she worked until she retired. Then, she was always ready to assist her family by any means that was necessary to make their lives easier.

After retirement, she and her husband moved to Sebastian, Florida in 1980. She described it as a sleepy little town with a population of 2,832 which evolved into a population of 26,118. Soon her sons, followed her and her husband to enjoy the country life. Also, they had friends from Massachusetts that resided there already. They enjoyed a comfortable and full life with family and friends.

Dottie was also so concerned about disadvantaged children, that she decided to adopt two young girls from Korea who were orphaned after the Korean War. This opportunity helped them to become very successful in their lives by becoming a nurse and the other is a bank manager. Their children have been equally successful in their lives. They continue to be an integral part of our family.

Dottie was able to adopt them through Holt International and continues to sponsor a child every month who is underprivileged. Therefore, her wish in lieu of flowers and a service; would be to sponsor or donate "Gifts of Hope" to a child to:
