Donald Swigart

Don Swigart passed quietly on December 18, 2016. He was 90.

Don is survived by his sister Grace Malakoff, daughter Laura Thomason (Hubert), and son Mark Swigart (Donna). He was grandfather to Wesley (Katie) and Robert Thomason, Matthew (Kara) and David Swigart, and great grandfather to Henry and Able Thomason.

Preceding Don in death was Emilie, his devoted wife of 60 years, and his precious granddaughter Emily Jean Thomason.

Don was born in North Dakota, and graduated from North Dakota State University. He served in the United States Air Force at Lowry Air Force Base during World War II, and relocated to Colorado after college and military service.

In Denver Don's first job was in the mail room at Ford Motor Company. He soon moved on to purchasing management, first at General Iron Works, then at Silver Engineering, and finally at Denver Water where he continued for 15 years prior to his retirement.

For many years Don was active in Boy Scouts, and at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fixing and building things. In retirement he fulfilled a long-held dream of building a small mountain home near Rocky Mountain National Park where he delighted in spending time with his loving family.

Memorial arrangements are pending, and a private observance for family and friends is to be held at a later date.
