Dona Jean Alexander, 94, of Georgetown, Colorado, died peacefully at home on July 3, 2022.
Dona was born June 16, 1928, to Jim and Clara Klufa in Burke, South Dakota. In Burke, she was raised with four brothers while her family owned and operated the local grocery store, Klufa’s Cash and Carry. After high school, she went on to graduate from Denver University in 1950 with a journalism degree. While working on the college yearbook, she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Alexander. The couple married on July 1, 1950.
In Denver, Dona worked as an English teacher for several years, while Bill co-owned a graphic arts company. In 1979, the couple moved to Georgetown where Bill continued to pursue his career as a watercolor artist and together, they owned and operated the Saxon Mountain Gallery. Dona and Bill had three sons, Reed, Kent and Jeff.
In her later years, Dona loved to read, garden and take walks through Georgetown with her good friend Marge Acker.
Dona was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her parents and brothers Jim, Merle, Kenny and Paul. She is survived by sons Reed, Jeff and Kent and his wife, Joyce.
Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mount Evans Hospice.
