Constance (Connie) Louise Doughman, 81, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at Scott’s House, a non-profit respite home. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, and spent most of her life in Lamy, New Mexico, a place she deeply loved and proudly called home.

Connie pursued her passion for creativity and learning at Miami University, where she earned a degree in Art. She went on to spend many years as an art teacher, sharing her knowledge, creativity, and encouragement with students and fostering a lasting appreciation for artistic expression.

Connie was a woman of creativity, dedication, and quiet strength. She was well known for her work with the Spanish Mustang Foundation, where her commitment reflected a deep respect for history, preservation, and the natural world. Alongside her husband and son, she also helped build finely crafted furniture through their family business, Rock Ridge Studios, where artistry, hard work, and family were inseparably intertwined. Those pieces stand as lasting expressions of a life devoted to craftsmanship and care.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robin Ell Doughman; her son, Ryan Ell Doughman; her parents, James William Staton Calvert, M.D., and Thema Genevieve Boone Calvert; her sister, Diane Nelson; and her brothers, Richard B. (Dick) Calvert and James (Jimmy) Calvert Jr.

Connie is survived by her only granddaughter, Rhiannon Miquela Doughman, who carries forward her spirit, creativity, and enduring legacy.

Connie’s life was marked by meaningful work, artistic expression, and a deep respect for tradition and preservation. She leaves behind enduring contributions that reflect her values and the care she brought to everything she did.
