Christine Ann Murphy

Christine Murphy, 68, of Nashville, TN, passed away on May 2, 2026. Chris was born in Hollywood, CA, on August 1, 1957, to Bryan and Jane Murphy. She graduated from Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL, in 975, and from the University of Alabama with a degree in business administration in 1980. As the oldest child in her family, Chris was the primary helper in raising her siblings and, later in life, providing support and care to her parents. She had a strong work ethic and worked hard at her career and volunteer activities. As her family moved throughout her formative years, Chris was always the first one to dive into the new circumstances and seize the day. She was a life-long learner and avid reader who loved sharing her passions and hobbies with her friends and family. Her love of music, travel, cuisine, family history, and a curiosity about the world echo throughout her family to this day. To know Chris was to receive her music, book, movie, and art recommendations tailored to your particular interests. She loved to paint and make arts and crafts for her friends and family. Chris supported all her family in their careers, hobbies, and educational pursuits, highlighting her positive attitude to life.

Chris was incredibly proud of her two sons, Bryan Epps Allen Utley and Nicholas Morehart Utley. In recent years, the light of her life was her grandchild Catherine Utley (Bryan).

She will be greatly missed and now she is with her loving parents.

She is survived by her beloved sons Bryan Utley and Nicholas Utley; her grandchild Catherine Utley (Bryan); her former husband David Utley; sister Catherine DerOvanesian and her husband Martin; brother Patrick Murphy and his wife Nancy; brother Kevin Murphy and his wife Christine; sister Stacey Murphy (Michael Hill); sister Leslie Moreau and her husband Curtis; nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and her cousins.

atrick B. Murphy is a retired clinical trials data manager living on a farm near RTP.
