Bob Reece Creager, 79, passed away on August 1, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, after courageously fighting cancer for more than a year. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Bob was born on March 24, 1947, in Funkstown, Maryland. His life would take him far from his Maryland beginnings and would be marked by service, hard work, devotion to family, a strong sense of duty, and a willingness to help others whenever he could.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy, ultimately achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
After his military career, Bob continued a life of service in law enforcement. He first served in Kissimmee, Florida, as a crime scene technician and community service officer, where he and his family made their home for many years before later relocating to Sarasota. In Sarasota, Bob retired as a Supervisor in the Forensic Division of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, where he was respected for his professionalism, attention to detail, and steady leadership.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob especially loved time on the water. He was an avid kayaker, finding peace and joy paddling Florida’s rivers, lakes, and coastal waters. Those who knew him best often found him happiest when he was outdoors, surrounded by nature.
But the title Bob enjoyed the most was Grandpa.
Bob is survived by his wife, Angela Creager; his sons, Robert Creager and his wife Malinda, and Mike Creager and his wife Yvette; his grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor, Robbie, Joshua, Jacob, and Sophia; and his great-granddaughter, Aurora. He also leaves behind extended family, friends, former shipmates, fellow officers, and countless others whose lives crossed his during his 79 years.
Bob was a hardworking man. He could be stubborn and hardheaded, and those who loved him knew it well. But beneath it was a man who loved his family, believed in responsibility, remained a steady and consistent presence in the lives of those closest to him, and was a friend to many who could always be counted on to help others when they were in need.
Bob fought cancer for more than a year with the same determination with which he approached much of his life. On August 1, surrounded by his family and the legacy of a life that had touched generations, his fight came to an end.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at North Kissimmee Baptist Church in Kissimmee, Florida, where family and friends will gather to remember Bob’s life, honor his service, and give thanks for the years they were given with him.
Bob will receive military honors from the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Fair winds and following seas, Senior Chief. Until we meet again.
