Besty Yeates

Betsy R. Yeates, a long-time teacher in the Denver Public Schools, passed away at her home early Friday morning, August 1. Present with her at her death were her long-time companion, Mary Frances Bohning, also a former teacher in the Denver Public Schools, and caregivers and friends, including Todd Prescott, her across-the-street neighbor.
Betsy was born in Greenfield, Iowa, on November 25, 1925. After attending public schools in Greenfield, she attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, graduating with a major in Physical Education. Prior to assuming positions in the Denver Schools, she both coached women's sports and taught physical education at the public high school level in Odessa, Texas. She is survived by one sister, Sally Yeates Sedelow, a retired professor now living near Heber Springs, Arkansas, and by her companion, Mary Frances Bohning.
