On December 19, 2020 Art traded his pain for a crown. He fought with everything inside him for 3 years. He didn't fight for himself, he fought for his wife of 33 1/2 years Pamela (Lovato) Marquez and his two beautiful daughters Chantel Marquez and Devanie Marquez.  He was so proud to have the only girls on his side of the family. He is also survived by his Parents, Arthur P. Marquez Sr. and Patsy Marquez. Art was the oldest of 4 boys and is survived by His brothers and hunting partners Mike Marquez(Debbie), John Marquez and Joe Marquez(Jen).  He has 4 nephews that loved him dearly Michael Marquez (Samantha), Ryan Marquez,  Josh Marquez and Elijah Marquez. He also married into 36 nieces and nephews. He was amazed how some nephews were his age and some even taller than him and would call him Uncle.

Art was known for his green thumb. He was determined to grow the next New Mexico State record pumpkin. Anyone who would come to visit was taken to the back yard to see his pumpkin.  He planted a garden every year. He was also known for his knowledge in weather. At outdoor family gatherings family would ask, " Artie is it going to rain?" He would look into the sky and say "Yes,  but only for 15 minutes."  Sure enough 15 minutes later the rain would stop. His love for the outdoors is indescribable. He loved going hunting every year with his dad, brothers and nephews. He also had 2 other hunting buddies, long time friend Ronnie Sanchez and deeply loved Scott Hinken. Every year about a month before hunting season Art would get a phone call from Ronnie and talk for hours. Pam and the girls would jokingly say he was talking to his girlfriend. After his diagnosis Ronnie called Art every Thursday night for almost 3 years. During this hard season in life Scott would often pick up Art and take him to eat or to the mountains. Scott never left without telling Art that he loved him. Art is also survived by many Aunts,  Uncles,  and cousins. Art was also known for his love for the Dallas Cowboys. He attended Dallas Cowboy games at both Dallas Cowboy stadiums. Art loved music. He loved the band Stryper and finally got to see them a few years back. Art was a drummer and was often seen air drumming. Art also had a great voice.

Art was a Godly man. He raised his girls to fear and serve God. He attended The Believers Center of Albuquerque for 26 years. Art will be missed by his wife and girls and all his family and friends.  He is walking the streets of Gold. We will soon meet again in heaven.

John 14:1-6 NIV

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
