Anita passed away on September 11th, 2026, following a long illness. She is survived by her stepdaughters Melissa Heidebrecht and her husband Keith of Aurora, Colorado, Mandi Voth and her husband Chad of Frederick, Colorado, granddaughters Kira, Tayla, Avery, grandson Deacon, her cousin Cheryl Morris of Clinton, Oklahoma and her lifelong friend Jerre Odell of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Anita is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Beam, mother Virginia Malson, father John Kappes and brother Charles Kappes as well as her surrogate parents Dean and Bob Odell.
Anita was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on September 16th, 1951, and graduated from Clinton High School in May 1969. Her career took many paths, from medical records at the Western Oklahoma Tuberculosis Hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma to banking in Oklahoma City to disability benefits with Southwestern Bell, and finally to pension benefits at the Carpenter’s Union.
Anita loved horses and loved to go riding on weekends in her earlier years. She loved county music and was a wonderful country dancer; in fact, she once danced on a television show. She loved music of all genres and knew every lyric by heart. She could beat anyone at music trivia. Her favorites were The Beatles and George Strait. You could usually find Anita wearing a band tee from her favorite concerts. She had a large collection of records and loved listening to them. Anita was also an avid reader and shared her love of prose with her best friend, Judy Odell.
Anita will be remembered for her kind heart and love for her family and friends.
