Alan & Barbara Edwards

On February 8, 2021 Barbara Edwards passed away, joining her husband Alan Edwards who predeceased her on November 25, 2016.

Alan and Barbara's romance began during the swing dance era, when their jive dancing skills became their hallmark at the big band dance halls that were in abundance in post-war England. Their courtship was briefly interrupted by Alan's British national service tour to Malaysia. Upon his return, Alan and Barbara were married in September 1957.

In 1968, yearning for a fresh start and drawn by the promise of opportunity, the Edwards left England and set off to pursue The American Dream. With a steamer trunk and one suitcase per family member, the Edwards' arrived in Denver, Colorado as a quintessential immigrant family. The kindhearted Devlin family set the Edwards on a path for success by hosting this immigrant clan and are now treasured life-long family friends.

Capitalizing on Alan's precision machining expertise and Barbara's knack for business, they put their belief in hard work and unwavering persistence to the test by opening Allied Machine Shop. Allied was known as a specialty shop that offered unique machining techniques serving the heavy truck equipment industry.

Barbara and Alan were wonderful hosts and their home in Foxfield, CO was a destination thoroughly enjoyed by family and friends. Pool parties, holiday events and BBQs on the patio were a gathering place for laugher, abundant food, free flowing spirits, and Alan's endless repertoire of jokes. A great time was had by all.

Together Alan and Barbara traveled extensively, with Hawaii and international cruises being favorites. In their later years, they both drew comfort from having a close-knit family, with Barbara relishing the joy of being a wonderful grandmother.

And now with Barbara's passing their journey takes on more meaning as Alan and Barbara are reunited. Together, they travel on the greatest adventure of all.

They are survived by their daughter Alison and son in-law Keith Kane, son Dave and daughter in-law Melissa Edwards, granddaughter Summer Edwards, grandson Ryan Kane, and grandson Braden Edwards.
